Meeting Notes: July 6, 2011

Our showboater for the July 6 Sedona Referrals Club meeting was Mr. Arturo Silva of AlphaGraphics in Flagstaff. “We are a print communications company, and will print anything on anything.”

Mr. Silva described a 6′ by 15′ banner, several promotional items, and stationary products. He brought a large poster in full, glorious color, for the upcoming barlympics. AlphaGraphics uses FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper, which is the benchmark for responsible forestry. They also offer recycled paper. AlphaGraphics is committed to using non-toxic inks and dyes produced in zero waste facilities. AlphaGraphics Flagstaff is a franchise that is locally owned and operated. Arturo stressed the great support from a large network of owners. AlphaGraphics offers free delivery to Sedona. www.us634.alphagraphics.com

The speaker was Mr. Larry Phillips of SuperTree Services, LLC in Flagstaff. Larry was born in England (father in the US Air Force), lived in New Mexico and Hawaii with his military family. At 15 he was sent to military school (“because I thought I knew everything”). He went to NAU, met Barbara, who would become his wife in 1975. He was in ROTC, went on active duty in the army at Ft. Bragg, and jumped out of airplanes (post Vietnam era). He ran and finished the Honolulu marathon in 1981, was discharged in 1989 with the rank of Captain, did some firefighting, and caught a 42 pound King Salmon during a 4-year stay in Alaska. He and Barbara and his daughter moved back to Flagstaff in 1992, and have been there ever since.
